meditation
Lately I’ve been experimenting with meditation. I’ve been incorporating it into my time after work to help me reset. I find it has helped me be more patient after a hectic day. It has helped me be more mindful of the little things that should be noticed, when often times they are not because of the stresses of life.
I have subscribed to the monthly subscription of the Waking Up app. I have enjoyed my time with it so far. I have always been interested in philosophy and how the mind works, and I find the different lectures and conversations to be very insightful. We shall see if I can stick with the practice enough to make the price tag worth changing to the yearly subscription (damn subscriptions keep adding up these days).
One of the motifs that resonates with me from Sam Harris and Waking Up is the line, “Begin again.” While beginning my meditation journey I have found it easy for my mind to wander down a rabbit hole of a thought while I am supposed to be mindful of the present. Begin again, is a nice thought to have when trying to pull myself back in, to just begin think of the breath again. If I had a few days off from meditation or journaling because of ‘you name it’ excuse, just begin again. It is a nice nudge for me.
